One of the problems of fractured reservoirs, with a bulky gas cap, is the production of oil with a high gas-to-oil ratio and the oil being trapped in the matrix. the lack of correct understanding of the fracture distribution network and its effect on the performance of the extraction methods can cause many challenges in the extraction operation in fracture reservoir .
In this study, by dividing the fractured reservoirs into water and gas-entrained parts, to investigate the fracture network geometry on the performance of recovery methods and to determine the optimal oil remaining in the matrix. Based on this, at first, based on preliminary screening, inefficient methods of water and basic gas were eliminated, and then, based on conceptual modeling, effective parameters were investigated in the simulation. In addition, the new algorithm decision making was used to rank and select the pilot areas for sampling. Then, based on the results from the conceptual modeling was paid to the simulation of water and gas EOR scenarios in each of the selected field pilots with an advanced screening approach and choosing the optimal method.
The results show that one of the important challenges in simulating of fractured reservoirs with an initial bulky gas cap is to determine a valid mixed fluid model for near the gas/oil contact and the depth of the oil base, so that the gradient of oil saturation pressure changes can be correctly calculated. The depth range of the tank should be determined, which was solved largely by presenting the dual fluid modeling. Another challenge is how to integrate static data to determine the pilot area based on production and operational data, so that areas with the ability to spread reservoir properties can be determined to investigate over-absorption methods, which was solved by using a new decision making algorithm.
The results of the conceptual modeling show that carbon dioxide injection is the superior technical method, while the results of the field pilot model show that the nitrogen method is the superior technical-economic method due to the greater activation of gravity fall mechanism and the lower cost. In addition, the low salt-water injection method with a dilution ratio of 100 times the optimal base water injection method has been introduced. Also, the results show that in the reservoirs with bulky gas cap, only in parts with less crack development, it is possible to perform gas and water EOR methods.
